New Year's Eve – market stall holders wanted
Byron Shire Council is seeking market stall holders for its low key family friendly 2011 Byron Bay New Year’s Eve event.
Byron Shire Mayor Jan Barham said the New Year’s Eve twilight market was a popular event to attend for many families in the Byron region.
“The beachfront is a wonderful area to host and display local food, craft and artisan stalls.”
She said Council is particularly keen to hear from stall holders who feature local home made and home grown items, before Friday 2 December.
Community groups who would like to participate are invited to join free of charge to showcase their work and activities.
Mayor Jan Barham said the always popular Samba Blisstas will be performing on the night and a range of amusement rides will be on show to keep the younger children entertained.
Council has maintained its support for New Year’s Eve celebrations with a $28,000 funding contribution.
Registrations can be made via Council’s website www.byron.nsw.gov.au or telephone 6626 7316.
Stall holder Fees: Food stalls $150
Craft Stalls $80
Community Group FREE
The streets and parks of Byron Bay and Brunswick Heads will have an alcohol prohibition for the NYE 24 hour period to ensure a safe and community friendly atmosphere.
To ensure the safe management on the night there are street closures to the beach that will commence at 6am on Saturday 31 December. The road closures will mean that no parking is available at the beachfront that day while preparations are underway.
