North Coast NSW Flood recovery

Recovery Centres

Recovery Centres are for impacted residents and businesses across the entire region. The centres are open in Lismore and Murwillumbah every day from 9am – 6pm (however there are changed hours over Easter, please see below). Recovery Centres provide a one stop shop for affected residents, businesses and farmers to access recovery assistance from a range of agencies and organisations.
Agencies based at the Recovery Centres will include: NSW Health, Disaster Welfare, Primary Industries, Insurance Agencies, Family and Community Services, Business Connect, Legal Aid, Environment Protection Authority, Centrelink, Red Cross and Safe Work NSW.

RECOVERY CENTRES ARE FOR ALL IMPACTED RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES IN THE SIX LGAs - including Byron Shire.

Update: 

From this weekend April 22/23, both Recovery Centres will be closed on Sundays but remain open on Saturdays from 10am – 4pm.

All other days they will now be open from 9am – 5pm (instead of 6pm)

Do you need help with food and essential items as a result of the recent flood?

The Mullumbimby & District Neighbourhood Centre (55 Dalley St, Mullumbimby NSW 2482) is providing community support and emergency relief services.

Donations of grocery cards for people affected by floods are urgently required and graciously accepted. Donations of food items are also appreciated. Food items will be used to cook meals for those in need.

For people wishing to make financial donations to those affected by flood, there is a donations button on the MDNC website: https://mdnc.org.au/ 100% of donations received are used to purchase grocery cards for people in need and donations are tax deductible.

Donations of furniture cannot be accepted by MDNC at this time, however MDNC is assisting the community group "Helping Hands Byron Shire"   to coordinate donations of furniture and large items through matching people in need directly with donations via the "Helping Hands Byron Shire" Facebook page.

Motor Vehicle Stamp Duty Relief

Motorists whose cars have been written off   as a result of a natural disaster may be eligible for a stamp duty refund on their replacement vehicle.

Legal Assistance

 

Legal Aid NSW helps people with their legal problems. Legal Aid NSW lawyers can   provide free legal advice and minor   assistance to people affected by disasters     on a range of issues including insurance, tenancy and credit and debt problems.

Provides disaster relief low interest loans      of up to $130,000 to eligible primary producers and small

businesses, and transport subsidies of up to 50% of the cost to transport livestock or fodder, to eligible primary producers.
