Local Government Week 2008

Local Government Week 2008

Over the Fence: Cultivating our own Backyard

28 July to 3 August 2008

Local Government Week provides a focus for councils to promote the importance of Local Government to the community. The Local Government and Shires Associations of NSW are coordinating Local Government Week again in 2008 because there continues to be strong demand among councils for the event. The week provides opportunities for public participation in Local Government and shows the community how they can be part of their council's day-to-day activities. It enables councils to educate the community about the importance of the services that local government provides. Councils across NSW hold a variety of special events during this time.

Byron Shire is located at Australia's eastern-most point with a population of almost 29,000. It is a thriving community where residents and visitors live, work and play in a sustainable environment and where Council strives to deliver the highest standard of local government services and infrastructure.
