Caring for our Country is the Australian Government’s funding initiative to invest in the conservation and management of Australia’s natural resource assets – its land, water, native plants and animals. Funding is focused on achieving strategic results by investing in six national priority areas: a national reserve system; biodiversity and natural icons; coastal environments and critical aquatic habitats; sustainable farm practices; natural resource management in remote and northern Australia and community skills, knowledge and engagement.
Funding is available throughout the year for Aboriginal heritage projects, kick start grants (until June 2009), Local Government heritage management, historical research and local archive projects, conservation documents and management reports.
