FRRR works by attracting support from businesses and other trusts and foundations, private individuals and communities. These donations are then distributed through a number of programs as grants for the benefit of rural and regional Australia.

Northern Rivers Area Consultative Committee
The NRACC acts as a conduit between government and the community. They follow a strategic plan that the northern rivers community develops every three years. These priorities are used to advise the Australian Government and can impact on funding decisions made in the region.
Northern Rivers Catchment Management Authority
This statutory authority and its board reports directly to the Minister for Climate Change, Environment and Water. They provide the community with current information about funding, training and learning opportunities in natural resource management across the NRCMA region.
Northern Rivers Community Foundation
The Foundation supports social, environmental and cultural projects in the Northern Rivers region. Grants from this trust can only be made to organisations with Deductible Gift Recipient status.
