Council publishes open access information on its website, follow the link to Open Access Information.
The public may obtain access to information as follows:
- by searching the Council’s website to see if it is already available;
- by contacting Council and requesting the information. Council will advise whether the information requested is open access information that is readily available and where and how to get the information;
- by completing an Informal Access to Information Request form and forwarding it to Council by mail to PO Box 219 Mullumbimby, fax 02 6684 3018 e-mail email@example.com, or in-person at Council’s Administration Centre, Station Street Mullumbimby.
You can locate a form on Councils website www.byron.nsw.gov.au/forms or alternatively ask for an Informal Access to Information Request form from the front counter customer service staff at Council’s Administration Centre, Station Street Mullumbimby.
Fax the form to Council’s 02 6684 3018, deliver the form to Council’s office at Station Street Mullumbimby, post to PO Box 219 Mullumbimby, or e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Obtain an Informal Access to Information Request form and write a description of the documents you wish to access. Your application will be assessed by the appropriate officer and if able the document will be released or, in certain circumstances, you may be requested to lodge a Formal Access to Information Request.
It may take up to 2 weeks to obtain certain documents. Some of the documents listed on the form are readily available in a week, but most files require search time to provide appropriate documents.
In accordance with the provisions of Section 18 of the Government Information Public Access Act 2009, there are no fees for accessing Council files and documents, however photocopying fees will apply as set in Council’s adopted Schedule of Fees and Changes. There are charges for copies of plans with varying costs, according to size. Fees will be charged on completion of the application.
