Ideas wanted for New Year's Eve
Council and the Community Summer Safety and Cultural Activities Committee are calling for Expressions of Interest from the community and businesses to be involved in the planning and provision of community and cultural activities for the 2013/14 summer period, with a focus on New Year’s Eve 2013.
We are looking for:
-
community members and businesses that have activity/event proposals
-
organisations that have ideas for cultural activities or events
-
performers and artists who can provide entertainment and cultural activities
-
service providers who can assist with the events during the summer period.
Our objectives are to facilitate a safety focussed New Year’s Eve and summer holiday period based on community inclusive cultural activities and events.
Submissions should include a description of the event/activity, level of funding needed, level of funding provided, possibility of partnerships, how the proposal will satisfy safety and cultural outcomes, time of event/activity, location of the event/activity, and event management skills etc.

Assistance for Festivals and Community Events 2013/14 Financial Year
In accordance with Council Policy “Assistance for Festivals and Community Functions” Council encourages community organisations to submit applications for financial assistance prior to the adoption of the budget.
Funding can be obtained to assist with Council’s costs associated with:
- DA assessment;
- Road closure;
- Advertising fees;
- Costs of Council labour and equipment to facilitate temporary road closures; and
- The provision of additional litter bins and clean-up activities.
Applications are required to be supported by sufficient information to assist Council in assessing each application. An application form must be completed and is available at http://www.byron.nsw.gov.au/expressions-of-interest or a hard copy of the application is available at Council’s Administration Office in Mullumbimby and Community Access Points around the Shire.
The allocation of these donations for assistance with holding community events for the 2013/14 financial year will be considered at a Council Meeting in August 2013.
