Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Subsidy Scheme - ABSTUDY
If you are an Indigenous secondary or tertiary student or a full-time Australian Apprentice, ABSTUDY may help you stay at school or go on to further studies. It consists of a fortnightly living allowance as well as additional components to help with the costs associated with attending school.
Aboriginal Community Programs
The Aboriginal Community Programs Unit of the NSW Department of Education and Training administers a range of funding programs which assist Aboriginal people gain employment and establish small business. Programs include Elsa Dixon Aboriginal Employment Program, New Careers for Aboriginal People and the Aboriginal Enterprise Development Officer Program.
Centrelink Indigenous Cadetship Program
The Centrelink Indigenous Cadetship Program assists students to complete study at an approved tertiary institution. The Cadet will commence work in their home Centrelink office on completion of the course of study.
Community Development Employment Projects
The CDEP Program is an Australian Government funded initiative for unemployed Indigenous people. The program identifies participation opportunities through activities which develop skills and improve employability of participants in order to assist them to move into employment outside the CDEP program.
Endeavour Research Fellowship for Indigenous Australians
This Fellowship provides financial support for Indigenous postgraduate students and postdoctoral fellows to undertake short-term research, in any field of study, in participating outgoing countries.
Indigenous Community Volunteers
ICV is a not for profit organization providing Indigenous Australians with new skills. Communities, organizations or individuals identify their skill needs, then ICV matches the projects with volunteers to address those needs. Volunteering with ICV is about sharing skills and knowledge and learning together. Skills transfer projects can lead to employment, self employment and community development.
Indigenous Higher Education Centres
Indigenous Higher Education Centres are located in Universities around Australia. These centres provide support to Indigenous students, further Indigenous academic studies, create a network of Indigenous students and academics, and provide an Indigenous presence on university campuses.
Indigenous Leadership Development Opportunities
FaHCSIA offers leadership development opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people over 18 years old.
The Program leads Indigenous people to bigger actions and opportunities. It helps emerging and potential leaders on their journey to stronger leadership, which in turn will build stronger families and stronger communities.
Indigenous Staff Scholarships
Indigenous Staff Scholarships are available for Indigenous staff at Universities to undertake further academic or professional study.
Indigenous Youth Mobility Program
The IYMP is providing opportunities for young Indigenous people from remote Australia to move to a major centre to participate in pre-vocational training, Australian apprenticeships, certificate courses and university courses such as those leading to nursing, teaching, accounting and business management qualifications.

National Indigenous Cadetship Program
The NICP is an Australian Government initiative that improves the professional employment prospects of Indigenous Australians. It links Indigenous tertiary students with employers in a cadetship arrangement involving full-time study and work placements.
NSW ALC Education Endowment Fund
The NSW Aboriginal Land Council has announced a $30 million Educational Endowment Fund which is targeted at providing Aboriginal people in NSW with a broad range of educational and vocational opportunities. The new Education Endowment Fund will run in conjunction with the existing Freddie Frickle scholarship which is targeted solely at tertiary education. Personal Support Program
PSP is an employment program that provides individual support to participants who, because of multiple non-vocational barriers, are unable to get a job, study or benefit from employment programs such as Job Network, Disability Employment Network, and Vocational Rehabilitation Services. People eligible for the Personal Support Program need individualized attention because of their difficult circumstances. Local offices are listed below.

University Support Centres
