Economic Development Plan

Council resolved late in 2005 to create an economic development function.  The Economic Development Officer is initially working to a brief agreed by Council.  The brief, which benefited from community consultation, identifies the objectives, core principles as well as the scope and the anticipated priorities of the Officer.

Amongst the many activities identified in the brief is the development of a strategic Economic Development Plan.  This activity is well underway.  Economic development issues have been the subject on workshops with Councillors.  These workshops are expected to continue through the end of 2008.
