Tony has been a resident in Byron Shire since 1989 and, together with his wife Peta, runs a macadamia farm and forestry plantation at Federal.  They have three children and six grandchildren.

Tony has a long career as a manager and director of corporate and family businesses and still retains company interests in value added macadamias as well as fruit drying and health food products.  He is also a director of several private and publicly listed companies.

Cr Heeson has interests in the community, particularly in sporting and social interests.  He is the events organiser for the Bangalow Billy Cart Derby, President of the Far North Coast Rugby Union and is also a member of the Bangalow Lions Club and the Byron Bay Beefsteak & Burgundy Club.

Cr Heeson is one of the Councillor representatives on the Finance Advisory Committee

and is also on the following Project Reference Group:   Byron Regional Sports and Cultural Complex
