Councillor Chris Cubis

PO Box 219 MULLUMBIMBY  NSW  2482

Contact: 6685 3782

Chris Cubis can be found most days operating Byron Steel which he owns with his wife Susan. Chris studied Engineering and Project Management at University, and spent 20 years in management of small private firms working in engineering and commercial building before returning to the area to run an engineering business.

Chris Cubis was raised on a small farm near The Channon; he is one of nine children to a family with a long and wide association to the area. They have worked in the local area for over 100 years, and in the past 40 years his family has owned businesses in Byron, Brunswick Heads, Ballina, and Lismore.

Chris has a strong interest in sport, has coached kid’s soccer for many years, and is involved in Rugby, Tennis, Cricket, and not enough golf. Chris is passionate about the need for simple local government; he dislikes red tape, loathes inefficiency and over-regulation. He believes roads, footpaths, and beach amenities have been sadly neglected.

He and wife Susan have two young children in primary school and live in Suffolk Park. They love the lifestyle of Byron, being involved in the community, and enjoy the simple pleasures of the beach, the community, and the natural surrounds.
