Free seminar offered for Byron Shire public swimming pools and spa pools service technicians and pool operators.

The future Public Health Regulation (which has not yet been passed by Parliament) propose to mandate certain minimum standards of operation and monitoring for any swimming pool or spa pool which is used by members of the general public. These 'public' pools will not only include the big public pools such as Byron Bay and Mullumbimby, but also pools which are associated with holiday accommodation, back packer accommodation, health spas and resorts, diver training, learn-to-swim, aquatic exercise classes, etc. The draft Public Health Regulations appear not to affect private residential swimming pool operators, or spa pools in accommodation units which are emptied and cleaned after each use.

If you are interested in attending a short seminar conducted by Environmental Health officers on the management and monitoring of your public swimming pool or spa pool, you are invited to contact Councils' Environmental Services by telephoning 6626 7164.

The courses are to be held between 1pm and 3pm on 8th and 9th February 2012 at Council Depot Training Rooms, Bayshore Drive, Byron Bay. Council expects that the seminars will fill quickly so your early nomination will be helpful in planning each session."
