Expression of Interest: Market Stalls and Entertainers (Buskers) for New Years’ Eve

Byron Shire Council is calling for Expressions of Interest from market stallholders and community groups to operate on New Years Eve 2009/10. Market stalls and entertainment will operate in Apex Park near Main Beach in Byron Bay from 6pm to midnight, Thursday 31December 2009.

Expressions of interest are sought for market stalls, particularly those which feature local home made/ home grown or value added items.

Expressions of interest are also sought for buskers to perform during the evening, particularly from buskers which appeal to a broad range of audiences and are appropriate for families. Buskers may need to obtain a Busking Permit.

Stallholders Fees:

Food stalls $150
Craft stalls $80
Community Groups FREE

Busking Permit Fees:

One off application fee $20
Permit $26 per month OR
Permit $100 per annum

Immunisation Clinics

Immunisation clinics are held in conjunction with the North Coast Area Health Service as follows:

  • Byron Bay - Byron Community Health, Shirley Street, Byron Bay (next door to Hospital) on Thursday 12 November 2009 (2nd Thursday of each month), between 1.30pm and 3.30pm;
  • Brunswick Heads - Brunswick Heads Community Centre, South Beach Road, Brunswick Heads on Thursday 26 November 2009 (4th Thursday of each month), between 1.30pm and 3.30pm.

PLEASE NOTE: Appointments are required and can be made by phoning Byron Community Health on 02 6685 6254.

These clinics are free and held regularly. Please bring along your child's immunisation records and Medicare card.

The following vaccines are provided:  Infanrix-Hexa (diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, hepatitis B, HIB & polio combination);  Prevenar (pneumococcal); Rotarix (rotavirus - for children born on or after 1May 2007); Priorix (measles, mumps, rubella combination); Meningococcal C; Hib;Varilrix (varicella);  Infanrix-IPV (diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, polio combination for 4 yr olds).

Request for Tender: Project Management Mullumbimby Water Pipelines

Contract No BSC/2009/00045

Tenders are being sought on behalf of Byron Shire Council from suitably qualified Engineering Consultants to undertake Project Management of the planning and construction of three kilometres of water pipelines.

Interested parties are required to register via the E-tendering Portal www.tenderlink.com/byron to download the tender documents.  There is no cost for downloading the documents via this site.

Public Meeting - Facilitated Panel Discussion - Draft Byron Shire Coastal Zone Management Plan

Byron Shire Council wishes to invite the community to a Facilitated Panel Discussion on the Draft Byron Shire Coastal Zone Management Plan on Friday 6 November 2009 at Council Chambers, Station Street Mullumbimby from 4.00pm to 8.00pm.

Representatives from key organisations and previous Coastal Management Committee Members have been invited to speak on their views of the Draft Coastal Zone Management Plan. 

Experts in coastal management and processes have also been invited to present on their area of expertise. 

A public question time has been scheduled to conclude the discussion.

The Draft Byron Shire Coastal Zone Management Plan is currently on public exhibition from 22 October 2009 to 22 December 2009.
