Place Plans

A project plan for the preparation of the Bangalow Village Plan was endorsed at the 15 December 2016 Council meeting. A guidance group including community representatives, staff and Councillors will take responsibility for guiding the preparation of the plan. The group will be engaged at key points throughout the process, to provide input into and guide the content of the plan. An important part of the plan is focussed on the activation of places and quickly achievable outcomes which act as a catalyst to achieving desired change within the village.

Following on from the adoption of the Byron Bay Town Centre Masterplan, Council has entered the next exciting phase of reviewing the planning controls. Updating the planning controls will allow a new Byron Bay Development Control Plan (DCP) and changes to Byron Local Environmental Plan (LEP) to reflect the outcomes of the Masterplan and align with the unique characteristic and location of the town centre.

In May 2014, Creative Mullumbimby (a community group of artists and residents with an interest in placemaking) organised the Mullumbimby Big Picture Show, which was a forum to gather the thoughts of locals on the future creative, social and economic directions for Mullumbimby. On the back of this event Council resolved to allocate funds to develop a masterplan for Mullumbimby. A project plan for the delivery of the masterplan was adopted by Council and a Guidance Group has been formed to guide the preparation of 'Our Mullumbimby Masterplan'.
