People Living with a Disability
On 3 December every year, International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) is celebrated worldwide recognising the achievements and contributions of people with disability, who live work and play in our community.
There are many ways to be physically active in your community. Council supports numerous sports, leisure and recreation activities.
The Companion Card allows people with a significant and permanent disability, and who require a carer, to participate in community activities and events without discrimination. The card holder presents their card at participating affiliate organisations to purchase a ticket or pay an entry fee and receive a ticket for their companion at no extra charge.
Locate accessible public toilet facilities and find out about the Master Locksmith key (MLAK) which allows people with disabilities 24 / 7 access to public facilities by using a universal key and lock.
