Visitor Trails Project Reference Group


1.      Develop up to five visitor trails for the Byron Shire to:

a.     Add to the visitor experience and complement the brand and image of the Shire
b.     Enhance existing nature-based and cultural tourism experiences
c.     Continue to develop and promote exceptional food and wine as part of the visitor experience
d.    Consider ways to encourage visitor dispersal to northern parts of the Shire in consultation with the community, and
e.     improve the social, economic and environmental outcomes for tourism in the Byron Shire.

2.      Consider Tourism Management Plan objectives (especially S8.2 and the associated actions), the visioning statement, community core values, tourism guiding principles, the Byron Shire Identity and the Byron Shire Visitor Profile and Satisfaction research results in trail development

3.      Develop a brief Communication Plan to promote the trails (template provided)

4.      Prepare a final report for consideration at the Tourism Advisory Committee meeting on 14 June 2012.
