Objectives

The purpose of the Safe Summer in the Bay Project Reference Group is:

  1. To facilitate and support a vibrant, inclusive and family orientated Byron Bay New Year’s Eve 2014.
  2. To provide guidance, support, trouble shooting and solutions throughout the planning phase for a Safe Summer in the Bay.
  3. Enable key stakeholders to liaise and work together, keeping communications as open as possible.
  4. Present a coordinated effort to the broader community as a town-wide initiative.
  5. Engage a productive and effective group of people and sub-groups as required.

Timeframe for Group 

The Project Reference Group has nine months to complete its objectives and will be disbanded on 28 February 2015.

Membership

Membership is to include seven members:

  • 2 Councillors (Crs Richardson and Woods, with Crs Ibrahim and Dey as alternates)
  • 5 invited members:
    • Police
    • Byron Bay Liquor Accord
    • VIA Byron / Byron United / Backpackers Group
    • Arts Northern Rivers
    • Byron Community Centre
    • a relevant staff member (staff participating on the PRG do not have any voting entitlements)
