The Belongil Creek is approximately 3 km long with a catchment of approx. 30 km2. Parts of the catchment have undergone urban development, with the Byron Bay Township located towards the eastern boundary of the catchment, whilst one third of the catchment is covered by the Cumbebin Swamp. Complex land ownership and management arrangements exist within the catchment area.
There are numerous management plans that have been developed through consultative committee processes, with stakeholder involvement.
