We adhere to web standards and accessibility guidelines where possible to allow for the variety of technology platforms, communication methods, and abilities of website users in the community.
The Byron Shire Council is committed to ensuring this web site meets best practice guidelines and at least Priority One requirements of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0 (WCAG).
Disability Discrimination Act
Australian Government departments and agencies are obliged by the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 to ensure that online information and services are accessible by people with disabilities. There is also the requirement to make online resources accessible to those people with technical constraints, such as older browsers and lower speed internet connections.
