Aboriginal services and programs

Byron Shire Council is committed to promoting mutual respect and harmony between Aboriginal and non-aboriginal people in the Shire.

This commitment has been demonstrated by Council's role in signing and facilitating historic agreements to progress Native Title claims around Byron Bay.

Aboriginal Projects Officer

Council employs a part time Aboriginal Project Officer whose overall responsibility is to promote Aboriginal cultural awareness within Byron Shire by assisting with the development of Aboriginal services and programs, and by developing closer links between Council and the Aboriginal community.

The Aboriginal Project Officer can be contacted on 02 6626 7226 or email council@byron.nsw.gov.au
