Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies

AIATSIS is the world's premier institution for information and research about the cultures and lifestyles of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The Institute undertakes and encourages scholarly, ethical community-based research, holds a priceless collection of films, photographs, video and audio recordings and the world's largest collections of printed and other resource materials for Indigenous Studies, and has its own publishing house.


Centrelink

Centrelink employs a network of Indigenous Specialist Officers, and Remote Visiting Teams inform Indigenous people about the services and programs Centrelink offers. Indigenous Specialist Officers provide feedback to Centrelink management on how to improve services to Indigenous people.


Department of Aboriginal Affairs

The DAA works with Aboriginal people, government agencies, and the private and community sectors to promote the interests of Aboriginal people in NSW and reduce the inequity they continue to experience.


Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs

FaHCSIA administers a number of Indigenous-specific programs, particularly in the areas of housing, community development, leadership and land. Within its mainstream programs it keeps a focus on Indigenous services and projects that support communities and families.


Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations

DEEWR provides a wide range of employment and business assistance for Indigenous Australians.


Health NSW

Providing publications and resources relevant to Aboriginal health needs.


Housing NSW

Provides public housing and housing related services, which are appropriate to the needs of Aboriginal people in NSW. Services include community housing, general public housing, housing as an elderly client (over 55 years), Rentstart, Special Rental Subsidy and Disability Rental Subsidy.


Human Rights & Equal Opportunity Commission

Almost one half of all Australians were either born overseas or had a parent born in another country. Australia is also home to the world's oldest continuing culture. The Racial Discrimination Act aims to ensure that Australians of all backgrounds are treated equally and have the same opportunities.


Indigenous Business Australia

IBA plays an important role in creating opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals to build assets and wealth. IBA works closely with the private sector and community groups to foster economic independence and home ownership among Indigenous Australians.

NSW Government provides a portal to all State and Federal Government Websites, covering a range of topics. The Indigenous Communities page includes information on Employment, Health, Housing, Culture and Support Services.

Provides information on workplace services available to Aboriginal people and Torres Strait Islanders in NSW.
