Any submission needs to be received by 4.00pm on the last day of the exhibition period. Such submissions are public documents in accordance with Council's Freedom of Information (FOI) Policy. In some circumstances a submission may be treated as 'Confidential'. Further advice on these circumstances is available from Council's FOI officer.

Council will not deal with the application until after the exhibition period has expired. All submissions will be taken into account in determining the application.

Draft Cultural Plan

Council resolved on the 26 June 2008 to place the Draft Cultural Plan and Appendices on public exhibition.

The Draft Cultural Plan and Appendices is on exhibition for a period of 28 days and is available at Community Access Points around the Shire or on Council’s website at www.byron.nsw.gov.au/PublicExhibition

A public meeting to showcase the Draft Cultural Plan will be held at the Byron Shire Council Chambers on Thursday 17 July 2008 at 6pm.

Council resolved on 26 June 2008 to place the “Draft Byron Shire Bike Strategy and Action Plan (Bike Plan)” on exhibition for a period of 28 days.

The Draft Byron Shire Bike Strategy and Action Plan (Bike Plan) is available for viewing at Community Access Points around the Shire or on Council’s website at www.byron.nsw.gov.au/PublicExhibition

Those interested in making a submission on the Bike Plan should do so in writing by 4.00pm on Thursday 7 August 2008.  The results of submissions will be reported to Council at the Ordinary Meeting of 28 August 2008.

Draft Amended Cultural Policy No. 3.42

At Council’s Ordinary Meeting held on 26 June 2008 it resolved to place the above Policy on public exhibition for a period of 28 days from 24 July to 21 August 2008 for the making of public submissions.

Waiving of Fees under S356 Local Government Act 1993 - East of Everything Series 2

Council resolved on the 26 June 2008 that it waive the filming fees under Section 356 of the Local Government Act 1993 for the ABC Series 2 production of East of Everything on the basis that is provides:

  1. positive economic opportunities for the Shire in terms of accommodation, spending on equipment, products and services;
  2. employment and training for local people involved in the creative industries;
  3. future opportunities for the merging creative industries in the region and employment for local people working in the film industry; and
  4. positive promotion for Byron Shire.

It also resolved to identify the application fee of $260 as a S356 donation.

Section 356 (2) of the Local Government Act states:

A proposed recipient who acts for private gain is not ineligible to be granted financial assistance but must not receive any benefit under this section until at least 28 days’ public notice of the council’s proposal to pass the necessary resolution has been given.

Draft Plan of Management for Water Lily Park Ocean Shores

Byron Shire Council has resolved at its Ordinary meeting of 22 May 2008 to exhibit the draft Plan of Management for the following land:

  • Lot 175 DP 238456 Water Lily Park Ocean Shores

The draft Plan has been prepared in accordance with the requirements of the community land management provisions of the Local Government Act and is on exhibition from 24 July to 21 August 2008. Copies are available below or at Community Access Points around the Shire.

Submissions on the draft Plan, which provides for the future management for Water Lily Park at OceanShores, may be made in writing to the General Manager.
