Message from the Mayor - Management Plan 2008-2011

Welcome to the Draft Management Plan for 2008 to 2011.  This is the most important document Council produces each year because it sets out our priorities for the next three years, prioritising the next financial year.

Mayoral Report - March 2008 Ordinary Meeting of 27 March 2008

Local Government has attracted a lot of media interest recently but not for positive reasons.  The ICAC inquiry into Wollongong Council has resulted in the sacking of the elected body after allegations of corruptions were found.  This is another blow for the communitys confidence in local government.  As a result of this action by State Government an unanticipated outcome has been the allocation of the reserve position on the LGA Executive being progressed.  At the 2006 LGSA Conference an election was held to select the executive, at that time I became the reserve member.  I have now been invited to join the Executive and will attend my first meeting on the 4 April 2008.

Mayoral Report - January 2008

The beginning of the year has been a difficult one for many. There have been great disruptions  experienced across the shire by the heavy downfalls in early January and the recognition of Disaster status for the region.  Council staff did a great job, with some people postponing their holidays to carry out activities to assist the community and rectify some of the problems caused by the flooding and damage done to infrastructure. Thanks and appreciation to the staff for timely and beyond the call of duty performance.
