Proposed Amended Fees and Charges for 2008/09

Council at its Extraordinary Meeting held on 19 June 2008 resolved to advertise the following additional fees and charges for 2008/09:

  • Waste Disposal fees
  • Mullumbimby Civic Memorial Hall fees

Council advises that it intends to increase fees for disposal of construction and demolition waste at the Myocum Waste and Recycling Centre.  The fee increases are proposed in response to significant increases in disposal fees in Ballina Shire, which has the potential to result in large amounts of waste from outside the Shire being brought to Myocum, rapidly consuming valuable landfill capacity.

The fee increases will apply to construction and demolition waste generated both inside and outside the Shire.  However loads of construction or demolition waste delivered in small vehicles (utes/cars/vans/ single axle trailers) will be subject to a lower fee on presentation of suitable identification.

Suitable identification will include:  A drivers licence showing residency in Byron Shire, a Byron Shire resident parking permit, or Byron Shire Council rates notice.

The following table outlines the current and proposed disposal fees for disposal of construction and demolition waste.
