Do something special - give blood

To give blood you must be:

  • Aged between 16 and 70 years of age
  • Be feeling well
  • Not had a tattoo in last 12 months
  • Not have a serious heart condition
  • Not be pregnant or breastfeeding

Bring photo ID, have something substantial to eat and drink at least 4 glasses of juice or water prior to your donation.

Some fast facts about giving blood:

  • One in three Australians will need blood or blood products in their lifetime
  • Only one in thirty Australians currently give blood
  • One blood donation can help save three peoples lives
  • Blood is used to help people with major medical conditions such as cancer, heart disease, stomach and bowel disease, liver and kidney disease, people with haemophilia, newborn babies and pregnant women, as well as people undergoing surgery and treatment of severe bleeding from accidents.
